Cheerfully pondering on a holiday message that could be useful all year, I came across this lovely, little quote:
‘The only way to have a friend is to be one’ ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Huzzah…this is perfect!
As you know, I’m all about the holistic health and wellness. (And have been for donkey’s years!) Holistic health includes body, mind, emotions and spirit. But it also means you don’t live in a vacuum. We live in community. Community living is healthy and uplifting.
(More about that another time.)
Back to Emerson’s quote: ‘The only way to have a friend is to be one’ or even, ‘the only way to be a friend is to have one.’ This works both ways…
But how?
One of the simplest and easiest ways we can add value to our lives, and to the lives of others, is to be grateful.
Let your friends, family and those who have made a difference in your life know how much you appreciate them. It doesn’t take very long, but it really can make a difference to your life and to the lives of those you care for.
We all appreciate being appreciated!
The Holiday Season is the perfect time to take a little time out of your busy schedule to maintain meaningful relationships:
- Pick Up The Phone…a quick phone call (my personal fave in these ever increasing times of written communication)
- text a message
- make a quick video sharing some fun news
- send a funny email
- how about picking up a card and popping it into the mail; opening something other than junk mail or a bill can be quite a delightful pick-me-up
A simple thank you can make a person’s day. And it’s the perfect way to stay connected, whether it’s holiday season or any other time.
Never done this before? Now’s the time.
Even reach out to new people you’ve met during the year and let them know you appreciate them.
So, my dear, my holiday message to you this year is ‘thank you’. Thank you for being so fabulous and thank you for letting me in your life.
Take a moment to pop a word or two in the comments and let me know what you’re up to this holiday season. I love to hear from you.
Stay fabulous!
