Ugh! I Feel a Cruggle Coming On

Choose Happy and always wear your best smile

I’m not gonna cry, I’m not gonna cry…

It isn’t that long ago that Facebook and Tweeting didn’t exist in our vocabulary. Now we use these words all the time.

Thinking about that the other morning, I came up with my own new word. Cruggle.

What on earth is a cruggle I hear you say. (I have a very vivid imagination!)

It came to me that one of the things I do when I’m terribly unhappy is ‘cruggle’. I both cry and struggle at the same time.

Tell me more? (Yes, I’m filling in the blanks again!)

Well, when I get particularly overwhelmed. And yes, the Choose Happy Happiness Coach has her blue days too! I find myself going into cruggle. My mind fills with thoughts of all the ‘woulda, shoulda, coulda’ stuff. You know, like

  • I would like to go visit the grandkids for Halloween
  • I shoulda worked more in September, then I
  • could afford it

And on and on my mind goes. Jumping from one woulda, shoulda, coulda to another.

Inevitably, this makes me cry. Yep, I start having a pity party.

So what the heck does naming this a cruggle do for me? By giving it a name I defuse its power. Kinda like this…

  • I would like to go visit the grandkids for Halloween
  • I shoulda worked more …
  • Oh my, I’m having a cruggle!

And what do you know? I start giggling instead. Well, think about … cruggle isn’t a very sensible word. It’s kinda hard to take yourself seriously when you know you are cruggling.

Once the giggling begins, away I go into Choose Happy instead of following the path into the blues.

And you know what that does next? Once I’m in Happy mode I can start to see how I can manifest the things I want.

Choose Happy ~ Dress up and have fun

Come here my pretties…

Okay, it’s a bit late to manifest the extra cash for the airfare for me. My alternate? The ex-hubby is going to take his Ipad along with the kiddies and I’m going to Skype in to see them. They’ll see me too, so I’ll wear my Halloween Hat!

And next year, I’ll plan ahead.

Okay, now I’ve shared this with you, tell me how you can make up a word to help you. Or let me know about your latest ‘cruggle’.

Jacqueline, I’m taking “cruggle” for my own and plan to use it when needed to scare way the grumpies! Happy Halloween and the grandkids will love Skyping with you in your spooky hat.

So cute, and so true that simply naming something can zap some of its power over us. I do this with my kids, too, when they’re having tough feelings come up — I help them label it and eventually they work through it.

Great idea to use with kids…I’ll pass along to my eldest daughter for the grandkids. Love it!

Yes, it made me giggle too – love how you can laugh at yourself and even create new words to make you smile (and me too). It really is that simple to shift your perception. Thanks for sharing.
