Align With Love, A Simple Prayer

love prayerI’m a big fan of the power of prayer, meditation + love.

There have been times in my life when I’ve felt I was face down, in a ditch, drowning in the mud and the only thing available to me was prayer.

That’s when the simple words ‘God Help Me!’ are all I can manage.
But today, I’m blessed that isn’t how I’m feeling.

A simple way to bring peace and balance into your life is with meditation and prayer. I’ve been using this for 25 years and it’s how I start my day. Every day!

So, my Happy New Year + any other time you need a pick-me-up, is my wish for you: That you embrace the power of meditation, love + prayer. To get you started, I’m sharing a favorite prayer with you:
Mother, Father God, Holy and Divine Spirit,

(Just for today) I recognize You, God, as the epitome of Unconditional Love and that You love me unconditionally.  I accept that because I am one with You, then the presence and power of unconditional love is within me.

(Just for today) I confess God, that I have been playing peek-a-boo with love. I say that I desire it and yet I hide from it. (Now) I realize I have made myself unavailable to love, afraid to fully show up and be vulnerable.

I release the blinders that prevented me from seeing the presence of love around me and kept me held hostage in judgment. (So,) I release the ear-plugs that blocked out Your whisperings of “I love You,” that fueled the belief that I am alone. (And) I release the bullet proof vest that kept my heart closed and fueled the story that I must fight love.

(Now) I align myself with You, God.

I align myself with love.

(As I give myself permission to see love all around me! I give myself per- mission to hear Your gentle urgings of loving guidance!  (And) I give myself permission to receive love in every area of my life!  I give myself permission to see, feel and know the presence and power of love within every fiber of my being and to experience love within the people around me! (In your honor) I give myself permission to be a demonstration of unconditional love and to attract loving experiences into my life!

I thank You, God, for loving me unconditionally!  Thank You for the reminder that all that is required is for me to show up and allow myself to give and receive love unconditionally!  Thank You for revealing to me that I AM LOVE!  I love You!!

And so it is!!

Don’t like the word God?

For some it has unhappy or negative connotations. So change it to wording that does resonate for you. My preferred wording is ‘Great Goodness’ because it makes me smile.

I start each day with two “rituals.” One is “Morning Pages” (writing whatever comes up filling at least 3 pages). The other is meditating. Sometimes it’s a silent meditation and other times it’s a guided meditation from the Chopra Meditation Center or Deva Premal.
    Thanks. Happy new year.

I did morning pages when I was in a very depressed time of life and found that I wrote a load of self-pitying drivel…it’s good to have a positive focus and that’s why sometimes we need a coach in our lives! I adore Deva Premal and her husband Miten…got to see them last year. Love what you are doing and thank you for sharing.

Definitely good to have a positive focus, but as Julia Cameron says it’s also good to get that “drivel” out of your head. I too saw Deva Premal & Miten a few months ago. It was a wonderful concert.

Definitely a good point about getting rid of it, but at that time it was an on-going pity party and I wasn’t letting it go. I found bio-energetics and getting out of my body was the trick at that time. Aren’t we blessed to have so many tools at our fingertips…definitely a great time to be alive!

I have practiced meditation and centering prayer for most of my life. I couldn’t live without it in my daily routine! <3

I love prayer too Jacqueline. I am in a constant state of prayer. I love that part of the prayer where it says that God whispers His love for us and He truly does. What a great way to start the year inviting God’s love into our lives and loving experiences too. Happy prayerful 2014!

My pleasure. How very lovely that you have developed a personal relationship…you are teaching by example and that’s powerful!

That’s beautiful! I find when I align myself with all things good that my life feels and flows much better—and not much bothers me because I feel at peace with what is. I am enough. We are enough just being. Thank you for this.

A reminder we all need…sometimes I really just write my blogs for me 😉
