Healthy skin? Glowing? Younger than your years? How’s your skin looking?
Apart from being the body’s biggest organ…
You didn’t think of skin as an organ? Yep, it’s the biggest elimination organ in the body, at around 2 square yards or meters on average. And it’s about 16% of our body weight!
Changes of season can be absolutely brutal on our skin. When we have healthy glowing skin, it means we are eliminating toxins well. And let’s face it (pun intended) the skin on our face is what people see first.
As a natural health expert, it’s always been important for me to put my ‘best face forward.’ And with the weather changes, flying and generally getting a bit older, it’s often a challenge.
When this happens, I go back to basics. So, today, here’s a couple of magical and aromatical ways to tune your skin up:
(Lovely to do before bed, or on a lazy Sunday at home)
Best Facemask Ever
1 cup yogurt (Greek is great because it’s nice and thick)
1/2 cup oatmeal (finer cut works best)
Measure out. Mix in a bowl. Slap all over your face. Well, not literally slap, but apply to your face. Don’t cover your eyes or lips, but you can cover your neck and décolletage (that’s cleavage).
Lie down on your chaise longue if you have one. Doesn’t that sound decadent? If not the sofa or bed will do nicely. Set the timer for 15 minutes.
Rinse off. (Personally, it’s mucky, so I jump in the shower.)
Pat your face dry with a nice fluffy towel. And you are ready for step two:
Emma’s Summer in a Bottle
Get yourself a bottle or jar that holds at least 30ml or 4 oz
15 ml or 2 oz coconut oil (yes, we are in the kitchen for our supplies again)
15 ml or 2 oz sesame seed oil (the best for body application can be bought on-line and the aroma is removed, but if all you got is the oil in the kitchen, then you’ll just smell like yummy sesame)
Add the following essential oils: (If you don’t have them all, use what you have. And if you don’t have any, get yourself some lavender. We all need lavender. Just the coconut and sesame oils will work, but the combo of all of them is what makes it so special.)
9 drops lavender
1 drop jasmine
5 drops rosewood
6 drops grapefruit
1 drop roman chamomile
Shake it up good. Then massage into your face, neck and décolletage. Take your time and really do a good job. Not a slapping on job this time!
The facemask will exfoliate your skin, taking off the dead surface to reveal the young and healthy skin beneath. The oil blend will nourish and nurture your skin, so that it’s healthy and vibrant.
So, now you know my secret. Well, one of them anyway. Keep checking in for more health tips and advice.
And let me know some of yours…always ready to learn and grow.

Awesome. Let me know how it goes. I love that most of the ingredients are right there in my kitchen. How does that get any better?

These recipes look and sound really great. And I actually have all the ingredients. Sound like a good combo with a deep conditioning treatment for my hair. Looking forward to trying these. Thanks for sharing. And excited to have discovered your blog.

What deep conditioning treatment do you use? I’ve tried sweet almond oil but my hair just gets too floppy. The curse of curlies, we have to moisturize our hair even!
