Hypnotherapy Changes is How to Get Out of Your Own Way
Hypnotherapy Changes the way you think + feel. Are you fed up with some habit or fear that is holding you back? Are you ready to Get Out of Your Own Way + start living life with confidence? With ease, joy + speed?
Many of us are and one of the techniques that people are turning to is hypnotherapy. So, is hypnotherapy or hypnosis the magic answer? Can one session of hypnotherapy change you into being fearless, happy, content, popular, confident? YES! And NO!
Recently a client said she’d been to see a hypnotherapist who told her she needed to come to see them two or three times and their issue would be completely resolved. Is this ‘normal’?
Yes, this does sound ‘normal’. It’s a very standard approach that most technical hypnotherapists use. It’s basically a formula. The client is put into a light hypnotic trance using a technique called induction. Then the hypnotherapist uses a script from his or her training to instruct your subconscious mind to make changes.
It is very pleasant and you come out of the session feeling light + refreshed.
So, does it work? Yes, hypnotherapy changes. However, the rub is: The effectiveness of this approach depends on how committed you are to change. For example: the person who is ready to quit smoking and really made the commitment to change will go once, two or three times and it will work instantly.

So, yes it can work without any homework. It works because the person is ready to change and committed to belief in this will make the change for them. The power of the mind!
However, if there are deeper issues to deal with that are underneath the addiction to smoking, then they are not addressed without further work. The hypnotherapy either doesn’t work or the person believes in it for a while. They use their willpower to make the change for a little while. But eventually the will power runs out and they return to their habit.
I work using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBH) along with the hypnotherapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a really a big word for changing habits. For example, using the smoker story from above, we’d look at the habitual aspect of smoking and find replacement habits that reinforce health and well-being.
Hypnotherapy Changes, but you do the work…
I don’t take the approach that I will make the change for you, but that you will make the changes necessary.
In that way, I like to use reinforcement tools. I use personalized MP3 recordings for clients to use daily on their own. Together we explore behaviors and set new ones in place. For example, with fear of public speaking, I’d definitely recommend joining a group like Toastmasters to gain confidence and a reliable skill set for public speaking. (CBH)
It takes 21 days to change a habit. I recommend listening to your personal hypnotherapy MP3 at least 21 consecutive days to give the subconsious mind time to change. This way Hypnotherapy Changes your mind!
I also use a process called Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP). More big words that mean ‘changing your mind.’ So with the biggest fear on the planet: fear of public speaking, we’d find an old story or a memory. For example a remembered incident at High School when you had to address a class + had a horrible experience. With NLP we take that memory and change the outcome to pleasant and successful.
This is also called Neuroplasticity of the Brain (new words that just mean the brain can change thought patterns…pretty cool stuff!)
Back to Fear of Public Speaking
With an issue like fear of public speaking we may even delve into past-life regression to get to a potential root cause. This may be real (in that we have past lives) or it may be symbolic (the mind makes up stories and pictures to express itself).
Either way + whatever you believe doesn’t matter. It works by using imagery and the power of our imagination to make changes using the subconscious or unconscious mind. That’s the neuroplasticity!
In addition, I am empathetic + intuitive. So, I also use those skills to coach + guide people. I sense or feel where you might be having difficulties and I encourage you to sense + feel them too.
I pull from my background in Naturopathy and as an anxiety + depression expert to add to the healing experience. The approach I use is very holistic, using body, mind, spirit and emotion to heal and to help my clients become happy and healthy. (To learn more about Holistic Health Care go here.)

The most important thing here is that you listen to that small inner voice within. You know what will work for you. It may be the standard hypnotherapy approach, it may be mine or there may be something else out there for you to explore.

What does your inner voice say?

[…] Make a Vision or Dream Board to embrace the energy. Collect together images of what represents abundance to you. That can be groups of people, indicating connection with others. Hands held, or a sweet kiss to represent love and friendship. Beautiful floral images to represent abundant beauty. Fruits and veggies to remind you to eat healthy. Have fun with this. There’s no hard or fast rules. Collect images and put into a frame, or pin on a board. Place it somewhere you’ll see it daily to activate your sub-conscious mind. […]
